The first glimpse of the dusk-stricken California Sky left me comprehending our pathetic existence in this force-induced onslaught of continuing time. Then, from a shaded region of summer-blossomed trees, a bird that had seemingly engulfed its body into ash and soot, escaped the trees and dashed through the flame colored sky. Only a few seconds did this scenery grip my fancy, for then my vision met obstruction of human development – never again will I witness this minute display that engulfed my soul. It was remarkable – truly astonishing.
A visual as powerful as what I saw that mid-summers evening gives light to reason and myth for ancient civilizations of long ago. Fables and stories of mythical proportion are induced from one’s desolate visuals, which embark on journeys to embrace religion or culture.
That one moment in my life, and of course there are many like them, tend to construct chaos through my thoughts, leads me to believe I am stuck – as if I am truly in Plato’s Cave.
